From November 13th to 25th, we took part in the Hainan Open International Classic Cars Rally 2024 – a unique, international classic car rally across the southern island of Hainan in China. A remarkable adventure and a fantastic opportunity to share our passion for classic engineering on a global stage. Our loyal travel companion? A stunning 1964 Mercedes-Benz 220B, which completed the 1,100 km journey with both elegance and reliability. From sun-drenched coastal roads to vibrant city centers, the rally led us through five stages past iconic locations such as Sanya, Wanning, Haikou, and Wenchang.  With more than 70 classic cars from 16 countries, the rally brought together an impressive international group – from pre-war Bugattis to elegant models from the 1970s. The atmosphere along the route was friendly, collegial, and above all, filled with a shared love for classic automobiles.

The rally kicked off with a festive start at Dadonghai Plaza in Sanya, in front of hundreds of spectators and local officials. And while the driving was certainly the main event, the public exhibition at the Sanya International Yacht Center provided a beautiful finale. Visitors had the chance to admire all the vehicles up close.
For us, the Hainan Rally was not only a sporting challenge, but also a cultural experience. The tropical landscape, the warm welcome, and the perfectly organized event left a lasting impression.
We look back on our participation with pride and hope this won’t be our last international rally. After all, what could be better than driving through the past, creating new memories along the way? The car has since returned from transport and now holds a special place in our reception hall.
